What is Leading Together?
Leading Together is a leadership development workshop series that teaches you tips and tricks you can use to improve your community. LISC is offering three workshops this year, and it is not necessary to attend all three. Each is different, and one does not build off another, so feel free to attend one, two, or all three. Trainings will cover issues like housing, transportation, health, crime & safety, job creation, education and preserving neighborhood character.
Join us at an upcoming Leading Together workshop where facilitators will lead you through dynamic exercises and activities that will help you:
• Build your leadership skills
• Practice public speaking
• Gain tools for community building
• Hear ideas on how to address important neighborhood issues that matter to you
• Learn from others working to improve Houston’s neighborhoods
When and where do you hold Leading Together?
The 2017 trainings will be offered on the following three Saturdays, at HCC’s Central Campus, in the Learning Science Hub building at 1300-B Holman St.

Who should attend Leading Together?
Any community leader interested in creating change in a neighborhood is welcome to attend. Community leaders are those who are motivated to lead projects, identify strategies, build coalitions and engage the community to make long term changes.
The trainings are open to resident leaders, civic club leaders, staff of non-profits or community based organizations serving a neighborhood and others. Previous community leadership is not necessary; just the desire to learn and try new things. Leading Together is free of charge and anyone interested is urged to register.
Why does LISC offer Leading Together?
LISC’s GO Neighborhoods initiative is about transforming neighborhoods that are under resourced into places of great opportunities for all: vibrant places to live, work, start a business and raise a family. Success is achieved by developing a community vision, and then bringing together stakeholders to attract and leverage resources. The driving force is the community, and passionate leaders who take pride in where they live or work coming together to achieve great things together.
LISC offers leadership development trainings to support leaders and introduce them to new ideas and strategies for success. Our trainings provide a place to practice and refine leadership skills and connect with leaders from other neighborhoods who are wrestling with similar issues.
