Fresh Start Program Hopes to Create New Gardeners

December 29, 2015 | By Breanna Cotton

The Palm Center Community Garden is one of three area gardens that are hoping to benefit from Urban

Harvest’s new Fresh Start Program. According to Fresh Start Program Manager Terry Garner, “The

purpose of Fresh Start is to support and enhance existing gardens through education, increased visibility

in the community, and planned activities.”

As part of Fresh Start’s education outreach, Garner will be teaching free gardening classes at Palm

Center on Feb. 4, 2016 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and Feb. 11, 2016 from 6:30-8 p.m. Garner said, “Our

hope is that the classes and a subsequent celebration at the Palm Center Community Garden will attract

new participants to gardening who can help us continue to address the lack of access to healthy foods in

OST/South Union.”
